Persistence committee, April 2010 - current

  • Committee Chair since September 2012
  • Leads an interdisciplinary team of staff that evaluates, makes recommendations and creates actionable plans for retention efforts
  • Coordinates persistence research projects to gather student withdrawal
    information that informs persistence initiatives.
  • Collaborates with team in development and implementation of
    persistence initiatives.

Faculty workshop series, January 2012 - current
Co-facilitates a series of workshops for teachers of first-year courses to
raise sensitivity and effectiveness toward meeting the diverse needs of
first year students.

Workshop topics:

  • Understanding first-generation students and other at-risk populations
  • Raising sensitivity to the student experience: remembering what it was like.
  • Developing techniques to make it easier for students to approach faculty
  • Considering teaching philosophies that support first-year students
  • Challenging and engaging students with multiple skill levels in the classroom

Faculty development committee, June 2010 - current

  • Contributes to development and delivery of faculty workshops.
  • Assists with new faculty orientation.
  • Provides eCompanion training to faculty.


Reading, writing, and speech across the curriculum taskforce, 2008

  • Collaborated with taskforce members to collectively investigate
    curriculum needs, develop best practices, and train faculty.
